It is my pleasure to welcome you to our learning community on behalf of the faculty, staff and students in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso. I hope you will take this opportunity to learn more about our academic and research programs and our commitment to regional collaboration.
The College of Health Sciences offers a range of educational programs in the health and rehabilitation fields. These programs lead to careers in clinical laboratory science, kinesiology, social work, health promotion, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and pharmacy. In partnership with hundreds of community-based clinical faculty, UTEP offers nationally accredited programs recognized in the June 2007 issue of Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education as among the top universities in the nation awarding degrees in the health fields to Hispanic students. Our flagship interdisciplinary health sciences Ph.D. program also provides a unique educational path for clinicians to become the academic faculty and the health researchers of tomorrow. We are both committed to insure that our academic programs provide access to students who will serve the needs of our underserved region as well as striving for excellence in all aspects of the educational experience. Our programs contribute hundreds of key personnel to clinical practice and leadership roles in our regional health care system. Our commitment to academic and research excellence not only enhances student learning opportunities across our disciplines, but also contributes to advancing knowledge and clinical practice in the health and rehabilitation science fields. I welcome you to explore the many opportunities available through the College of Health Sciences. Kathleen A. Curtis, PT, Ph.D. Dean, College of Health Sciences |
