Welcome to the Master of Rehabilitation Counseling

On November 16, 2009, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved a request by College of Health Sciences, to create a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling program. The program admitted its first students in the Fall of 2010.

The Master of Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC) degree provides a strong foundation in the philosophy, process, and profession of rehabilitation counseling through didactic coursework, field experiences, and extracurricular experiences. It develops expertise in the independent living, medical, social, and psychological aspects of disability and in the vocational rehabilitation process.

Graduates of the MRC program are eligible to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor Exam. Graduates are highly sought after by a number of rehabilitation agencies in El Paso, the State of Texas, and the State of New Mexico and across the nation. These agencies include organizations such as the Texas Division of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, CIGNA Corporation, and many other rehabilitation service agencies.

In accordance with The Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) The Master of Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC) Program routinely provides information about the program’s academic quality for public disclosure (more...).
