Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program

Clinical Lab Scientists play a critical role in health care. They perform the tests of human tissues and fluids that doctors need to diagnose and treat disease, and to maintain and monitor a person’s health.

Department of Health Promotion

Health Promotion professionals dedicate their careers to preventing disease and improving the health and well being of their community through health education and community programs.

Department of Kinesiology

Kinesiologists study human movement from the perspective of preventing illness and injury and improving health and performance. This science is the basis for careers in physical education teaching, personal training and fitness. The degree also provides the background preparation for athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other allied health professions.

Department of Rehabilitation Sciences

Occupational Therapy Program

Occupational Therapists help people who suffer from illness or injury achieve independence in all areas of their lives, especially activities of daily living. They develop assistive technologies, supporting splints, and rehabilitation programs. Occupational Therapy is a graduate program.

Physical Therapy Program

Physical Therapists affect people’s quality of life through the maintenance, prevention and restoration of function in daily lives and performance activities. Physical therapists treat a wide variety of people from older adults, children, to Olympic athletes. Physical Therapy is a graduate program at present offering a Masters of Physical Therapy Degree.

Speech Language Pathology

Speech Language Pathologist work to prevent, diagnose, evaluate and treat disorders such as stuttering, aphasia, and other language disorders. Speech Language Pathology offers an innovative curriculum that starts at the undergraduate level and culminates in a MS degree.

Cooperative Pharmacy Program

Pharmacists accurately dispense and develop medications for patients, and are also involved in clinical services and education of people about medications, herbal remedies, and other drugs. Pharmacists also manage, cure, and prevent disease. Pharmacy is a cooperative program with the University of Texas at Austin.

Social Work Program
Social Workers focus on understanding, identifying, and acting upon the complex and oppressive barriers which inhibit the social functioning of individuals, families, groups, and communities, and which prevent them from improving their  quality of life. Their work is particularly focused on the United States/ Mexico border region.
